Gold Nanostar-Based Sensitive Catechol Plasmonic Colorimetric Sensing Platform with Ultra-Wide Detection Range

High sensitivity and a wide detection range are always the pursuit of sensor design. In this work, gold nanostars (Au NSs) featuring shape sea urchins with an absorption peak at near infrared region (822 nm) were prepared. We proposed Au NSs-based plasmonic colorimetric sensing platform for ultrasensitive catechol (CC) from 3.33 nM to 107 ?M limit (LOD) 1 nM. The target analyte, CC, was used reduce silver ions (Ag+) form (Ag) coating on surface NSs, which caused blue-shift in localized plasmon resonance (LSPR) NSs. With gradual increase CC concentration, Ag gradually nucleated, LSPR carried on. This strategy yields shift by as much 276 nm effects, enabling ultra-wide CC. work will facilitate research target-mediated sensors their application environmental monitoring, food safety, disease diagnosis.
